Spending sprees

We spent the weekend at the house again (where we'll be spending every weekend for the next several weeks) and got a lot accomplished. We cleaned up the piles of tile debris from last weekend, met with lady from the quarry for the measurement for the countertop and rented another machine and chipped off the rest of the thin-set from the flooring. But mostly, we SHOPPED! Our contractors were starting on a bunch of projects this morning, which meant we had to have everything ready for them. We spent hours in Home Depot, paying for our countertops, buying sinks, sliding doors, french doors and front doors... lights, shower heads, faucets... the list goes on. The salesman who helped us with our countertop - who was WONDERFUL - felt bad because the estimate he'd originally given us was several hundred less than the final price. He sat and he tweaked and calculated until he found some ways to save us some money, and he even took $150 off our stainless steel sink, calling it "returned and damaged" (shhh) We also went to Floor and Decor, and left with two bathroom countertops and sinks. I think the vast amount of shopping we really have to do has sunk in, so we're planning a day next weekend for shopping sans kids.

The house is pretty much taken apart now, and the floors are smooth and awaiting new tile. Everything is covered in haze and dust, a phenomenon I remember well from the house in New Hampshire. We were glad to be able to leave it behind, and come home to a house instead of a construction site.
